Sweet and Sour Tofu with Pineapple and Bell Peppers

Servings: 4 | 30 minutes | 280 kcal

The sweet and sour flavor profile popular in Chinese cuisine has inspired this dish. In this vegan adaptation, tofu substitutes meat, maintaining the traditional taste but offering a plant-based alternative.

This recipe is inspired by the classic sweet and sour dishes that are popular in many Asian countries, but with a vegan twist. The tofu provides a nice contrast to the sweetness of the pineapple and the tanginess of the bell peppers, making it a truly balanced dish.

Ingredients

  • 200 grams tofu
  • 1 cup pineapple
  • 1 pieces red bell pepper
  • 1 pieces green bell pepper
  • 1/2 cup sweet and sour sauce
  • 2 teaspoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoons cornstarch

Instructions

  1. Press the tofu to remove excess water, then cut into cubes.
  2. In a pan, heat some oil and fry the tofu until golden brown. Set aside.
  3. In the same pan, sauté bell peppers until they are slightly soft.
  4. Add the pineapple chunks to the pan and stir-fry for a minute.
  5. In a bowl, mix the sweet and sour sauce, soy sauce, and cornstarch to make the sauce.
  6. Add the sauce to the pan and toss everything to coat.
  7. Finally, add the fried tofu to the pan and stir to coat with the sauce. Heat for a few minutes until everything is well combined and heated through.
