The idea of using cauliflower as a substitute for meat in dishes is a relatively new concept, born out of the rise in vegetarian and vegan diets. The exact origin of cauliflower wings is unclear, but they have become a mainstay in vegan cuisine.
One day, while craving for some sticky wings, I realized I had no chicken at home. All I had was a cauliflower. I was skeptical, but I tried making wings out of them, and boy, was I surprised! The outcome was amazing, and it became a regular dish in my vegan journey.
Ingredients
- 1 pieces Cauliflower
- 1 cups Flour
- 1 cups Water
- 1 teaspoons Garlic Powder
- 1/2 cups Maple Syrup
- 1/4 cups Sriracha
- 2 teaspoons Soy Sauce
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C).
- Cut the cauliflower into florets, roughly the size of wings.
- In a bowl, mix together the flour, water, and garlic powder until there are no lumps.
- Toss the cauliflower wings in the batter, making sure they're fully coated, and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for 20 minutes, flipping halfway through.
- While the cauliflower is baking, whisk together the maple syrup, sriracha, and soy sauce in a small saucepan over medium heat.
- Once the cauliflower is done, gently toss them in the glaze and bake for another 10 minutes or until crispy.
- Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce!
