Tiramisu is a traditional Italian dessert dating back to the 1960s. It is made of layers of ladyfingers dipped in coffee and layered with a creamy, custard-like mixture. Originally, the custard was made with raw eggs and mascarpone cheese, but vegan versions have become increasingly popular as more people embrace a plant-based diet.
The name tiramisu is derived from the Italian phrase 'tirami su', which translates to 'pick me up' - a reference to the energy boost you get from the sweet treat.
