Tiramisu

Servings: 4 | 30 minutes | 433 kcal

Tiramisu is a traditional Italian dessert dating back to the 1960s. It is made of layers of ladyfingers dipped in coffee and layered with a creamy, custard-like mixture. Originally, the custard was made with raw eggs and mascarpone cheese, but vegan versions have become increasingly popular as more people embrace a plant-based diet.

The name tiramisu is derived from the Italian phrase 'tirami su', which translates to 'pick me up' - a reference to the energy boost you get from the sweet treat.

Ingredients

  • 250 g soy yogurt
  • 80 g vegan cream cheese
  • 80 g vegan margarine
  • 30 g cocoa powder
  • 4 tbs agave syrup
  • 6 sheets vegan ladyfingers
  • 30 g dark vegan chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Mix together the soy yogurt, cream cheese and margarine until creamy and smooth.
  2. Sift cocoa powder over the mix and add the agave syrup.
  3. Mix together until all the ingredients are incorporated.
  4. Take a 4-cup container and arrange 3 ladyfingers at the bottom, sprinkle with half of the chocolate chips.
  5. Spread the creamy mix on top, then place 3 more ladyfingers and sprinkle with the remaining chocolate chips.
  6. Place the tiramisu in the refrigerator for 30 minutes or until it is ready to be served.
