Ingredients

  • 150 g butter
  • 150 g sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 200 g flour
  • 50 g cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 100 ml milk
  • 1 jar sour cherries
  • 1 package vanilla pudding mix
  • 500 ml milk
  • 150 g dark chocolate
  • 150 g white chocolate
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease a 26cm (10 inch) round baking pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream the butter and sugar until fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time and mix well.
  3. In another bowl, mix the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt together.
  4. Add the flour mixture to the butter mixture and mix well.
  5. Add the vanilla extract and milk, and stir until everything is well combined.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top.
  7. Drain the sour cherries, reserving the juice.
  8. Spread the cherries over the batter.
  9. In a saucepan, mix the pudding mix with the reserved cherry juice and 500ml of milk. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the pudding thickens.
  10. Spread the pudding over the cherries.
  11. Bake the cake for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let the cake cool completely.
  12. Melt the dark chocolate and white chocolate separately in two separate bowls, each with 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil.
  13. Pour the dark chocolate over the cake and spread it evenly. Let it cool and harden for a few minutes.
  14. Pour the white chocolate over the dark chocolate in a wavy pattern, to create a 'wave' effect. Let the cake cool and harden completely before serving.
